TCU Announces Athletes of the Week

FORT WORTH, Texas - Men's track and field's Cameron Echols-Luper and women's swimming's Devin Newton have been named TCU's Muscle Milk Athletes of the Week for their recent performances.
Echols-Luper, a sophomore from Auburn, Alabama, claimed the Big 12 indoor long jump title at the conference championships last weekend in Ames, Iowa. His jump of 7.61m (24-11.75) on his second attempt of the finals won TCU it's first men's indoor long jump title since 2004.
He will be joined by four other Horned Frogs at the NCAA Indoor Championships from March 13-14 at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Newton, a freshman from Fountain Valley, California, was a part of four school records last week at the Big 12 Swimming & Diving Championships in Austin, Texas. She set individual records in the 200 IM (2:00.64) and 100 breast (1:02.05), as well as in the 200 medley relay (1:41.72) and the 400 medley relay (3:44.93). Her time in the 200 IM and 100 breast were also NCAA "B" cut marks.
