Men's Tennis Rolls Over Tulsa

FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 17 TCU men's tennis team continued its winning ways by blanking No. 40 Tulsa, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.
Just a few days shy of starting the 2015 ITA National Team Indoor Championships and playing indoors for the first time this season, the Horned Frogs improved to 5-0 for the first time since 2008 and defeated the Hurricanes (7-4) for the first time since 2010.
"I thought this was one of our most complete matches under a very tough environment," head coach David Roditi said. "Our guys handled unfortunate situations very well and we are very proud of them as coaches. Every doubles team and every player played well and we feel their preparation is very good. This indoor match will only help us going into the indoor nationals next week. Our team is ready and excited for the challenge."
TCU opened the matchup by dominating the doubles action. Freshman Trevor Johnson and sophomore Hudson Blake improved to 3-0 on the year by taking out Or Ram-Harel and Juan Gonzalez, 6-3, at No. 3 doubles. The Frogs wrapped up the doubles point with the freshmen duo of Cameron Norrie and Guillermo Nuñez defeating Dylan McCloskey and Matthew Kirby, 6-3, on court two.
The Frogs did not stay on the court long in singles action, as No. 87 Nuñez quickly dispatched his opponent on court five, 6-3, 6-1. Fellow freshman and No. 24 Norrie was next off the court with a 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles and is now 12-2 on the season and on a six-match winning streak.
Senior Arnau Dachs returned to the singles lineup and clinched the match for TCU with a straight set, 6-4, 6-3 victory over Alejandro Espejo at No. 3 singles. Dachs has now moved into the double-digit win category in singles with a 10-3 record and is undefeated in dual matches with a 4-0 record.
TCU will be in action next at the indoor championships on Feb. 13-16 at the Midtown Athletic Club in Chicago, Ill. The Frogs will be taking part in the event for the first time since 2001.
