"I'm so impressed with the turn around this team made from yesterday," said TCU Director of Equestrian Haley Schoolfield. "It's too bad we didn't win the tiebreaker, but I'm thrilled with our late rally and being able to take it to the wire. We are looking forward to getting back to work this week and hosting Tennessee-Martin and South Dakota State."
On the day, the Horned Frogs, who moved to 5-4 overall and 2-4 in Big 12 action, captured two MOP honors on the Hunt Seat side, while claiming a 6-4 decision in the discipline. Oklahoma State captured a 6-4 victory on the Western side Saturday.
The Frogs simply dominated the Cowgirls in Equitation on the Flat Saturday to the tune of a 4-1 decision. Senior Kaitlin Perry led the way, scoring a 90 to defeat Katie Jones. With the win, Perry recoded her second MOP of the season. Kari Hancock moved to 2-0 over the weekend with an 90-79 victory over Amy White, while Nicole Diamantis was also victorious for a second time this weekend, dropping Jorden Davis. Freshman Mady Fithian rounded out the Horned Frog notables, upending Kendall Pedigo, 72-71.
In Equitation over Fences, Diamantis continued her winning ways, dismantling Davis once again, 86-76, to earn MOP accolades. Jayme Omand was the only other Frog to score in Fences with an 80-78 victory over Maggie Drysch.
On the Western side, TCU made quick work of OSU in Reining, scoring a 3-1 decision. Katelyn Gray earned a 66-65 decision over Justine Peters, while Chantz Stewart improved to 7-0-1 on the year, upending Julia Purus. Shelby St. Hilaire scored a 72.5-71.5 dropping of Erin Wiloughby.
In Horsemanship, Megan McMullen was the lone Frog to score a point, riding Chilli to a 75-73 victory over Paris Nottingham. She is now 5-1 in league play on the season after going 2-0 this weekend.
TCU will return home to face Tennessee-Martin next Friday, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
