SPRINGTOWN, Texas - No. 8 TCU captured three MOP's en route to an 11-7 victory over No. 7 Oklahoma State Saturday afternoon at Turning Point Ranch.
"It was great to see the team come together today. We came away with three out of the four MOP's and secured the win. It was a great way to open our home schedule," said Director of Equestrian Haley Schoolfield.
The Horned Frogs, who improved to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in Big 12 play, opened their home slate in fine fashion, dropping the Cowgirls in Hunt Seat, 8-2. Individually, Kaitlin Perry, Jayme Omand and Megan McMullen all recorded MOP honors against OSU. With the win, TCU is now 11-3 at Turning Point Ranch and hasn't lost to a conference foe at home since 2012-13.
The Frogs got going early as they swept Oklahoma State, 5-0, in Equitation over Fences. Omand, a freshman out of California, recorded her first career MOP with an 85-81 victory over Carly Barrick. Jordan Appel and Nicole Diamantis were also victorious with wins over Allison Joyce and Katie Jones, respectively. Perry was solid with an 84-70 thrashing of Jorden Davis. Molly Peddicord rounded out the Horned Frog sweep with a 76-69 decision versus Kendall Pedigo.
In Equitation on the Flat, Perry led the way with an 80-68 win over Amy White. With the win, Perry improved to 3-0-1 overall and 2-0 in Big 12 play. She also posted her first MOP of the year. Omand continued her winning ways, improving to 2-0 on the day with a 75-69 decision over Barrick. Peddicord posted the only other point for the Purple and White, downing Pedigo.
On the Western side, Katelyn Gray evened her season record at 1-1 overall in Horsemanship with a 71.5-70.5 victory over Miranda Reed. McMullen, a sophomore, posted an MOP ride with a 74.5-70.5 dropping of Paris Nottingham. Returning All-America honoree Erin Gillette appeared to have scored a point for TCU, but came up just short, falling to Lindsey McMullen.
In Reining, Chantz Stewart posted the long point for the Frogs in the discipline, upending Brenna Brawner, 68.5-66. Returning All-America honorees Alexi Child and Shelby St. Hilaire both tried to score points, but ended up posting draws against Julia Purus and Ebba Lang, respectively.
TCU will continue its home schedule on Friday, Nov. 14 versus No. 2 Kansas State in Springtown.
