POSTGAME QUOTES
TCU 59, Air Force 56
Fort Worth, Texas (Daniel-Meyer Coliseum)
Jan. 25, 2011
Attendance: 4,570
TCU HEAD COACH Jim Christian
On his team's performance:
"When you play Air Force, you know it's going to be a possession-by-possession game, and it's important not to lose our focus. We started off slow, but in the second half we made better decisions with the basketball when we penetrated. We had to (play) transition and drive and get the ball to shooters. That's back-to-back unselfish games, good defensive games, and we are making timely shots. We are getting better."
On J.R. Cadot:
"He was due for a good game. He had a good practice yesterday. He was more aggressive offensively and he was ready to play today. He had steals and blocks that were big. He affected the game, no doubt."
On the early timeout and slow start:
"I told them that we couldn't let them control the game and get the lead, because playing them from behind is tough. They are going to shrink (number of) possessions in the game, and we needed to get off to a good start."
TCU SENIOR GUARD Hank Thorns
On his offensive performance:
"Once I hit one shot, I felt pretty good. Once I got rolling, it started to get harder for them to beat us. I got in the groove offensively, and I was trying to make plays for other people."
On the importance of defense:
"Defense is the key in every game. They had a chance to tie the game up at the end, but we had a great stop. That took great defense and communication. Once we have our offense rolling, we know we aren't going to have problems scoring. We need to focus on stopping the other team from scoring."
AIR FORCE HEAD COACH JEFF REYNOLDS
On TCU's defensive effort in the last two possessions:
"They were pretty good defensively. We have been having problems putting the ball in the basket. We wanted to try get the drive or try to get to the free throw line. We went the last three-and-a-half minutes I think without scoring and hadn't shot well from 3. But I don't think it really came down to the last two possessions. I think we lost the game in the second half because of our inability to finish (defensively)."
