SCOUTING MISSOURI
The Tigers feature six starters and 10 letterwinners from a 2010 team that went 7-10-2 and finished sixth overall in the Big 12 Conference. Sophomore midfielder Dominique Richardson earned preseason all-Big 12 honors after posting three goals and starting all 19 games for the Tigers last season. Nolan Catholic graduate and North Richland Hills native McKenzie Sauerwein has been solid in her first season as the Tigers' goalkeeper.
Missouri enters Sunday with a 4-1 record, riding a four-match winning streak. The Tigers, who are currently receiving votes in the NSCAA Coaches poll, enjoyed a 1-0 shutout against No. 7 Ohio State at home on Aug. 26, riding a second-half goal from Richardson to victory.
SERIES HISTORY
Missouri won the only meeting against the Horned Frogs in the all-time series, claiming a 6-2 victory in 2007 at Audrey J. Walton Track-Soccer Stadium in Columbia. The Tigers were ranked No. 20 in the nation at the time, and TCU received goals from freshman Jackie Torda and senior Angie Nickens.
ONE AND DONE
The Frogs have not given up more than one goal in a game this season, leading the Mountain West Conference in saves and tied for the league lead in goals allowed. True freshman goalkeeper Alicen Wright has been solid between the pipes and currently paces the MWC in save percentage (.926) even though she has faced a league-high 33 shots on goal in the early season.
NO. 100 AT GARVEY-ROSENTHAL
Sunday's matchup against Missouri will be the 100th game played on Jane Justin Field at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium. After sporting a 6-1 home record in the inaugural season, TCU has continued to play well on its home turf ever since, boasting a 50-39-10 overall record.
TWENTY-FIVE SEEMS SO YOUNG
The 2011 season marks the 25th anniversary of TCU women's soccer on campus. More than 300 student-athletes have had the pleasure of putting on the Purple and White since the program began in 1986, collecting a all-time record of 203-245-31 (.456) in 479 total matches. Only two head coaches have paced the sidelines for the Horned Frogs, David Rubinson (1986-04) and Dan Abdalla (2005-present).
LAST TIME OUT: AT TEXAS STATE
TCU rattled off three straight goals to earn its first come-from-behind victory of the season, taking down Texas State by the score of 3-1 Friday at the Bobcat Soccer Complex. TCU came on strong in the second half, outshooting the Bobcats, 9-5, in the second frame. TSU edged the Frogs overall in shots for the match, 12-11. Senior Kaylie Garcia enjoyed an outstanding performance in her second game back from the World University Games, contributing a goal, an assist and pacing the Purple and White with three shots on goal. Just before the end of the opening period, TCU took advantage of their second scoring opportunity as junior Elise Kensinger landed a header into the Bobcats' goal off of a corner kick from freshman Natalie Werner. After Garcia scored to begin the second period, senior Kristen Halverson scored her first goal of 2011 on a breakaway pass from Garcia.
