FORT WORTH, Texas - With the 2011-12 school year about to begin, GoFrogs.com recently sat down with TCU junior Starr Crawford to hear her thoughts on the team this upcoming season.
Crawford collected second-team all-conference accolades as well as all-defensive team honors last season after being one of only two players in the conference to record five double-doubles during conference play. The junior had seven double-digit rebounding games and 12 double-digit scoring games in the MWC, which included an 18-point and 18-board outing against UNLV that helped garner her MWC Player of the Week accolades.
Crawford was the only Mountain West Conference player to average double-digits in points per game (12.7) and double-digits in boards per contest (10.0) during MWC play. She closed the conference season, leading the conference in rebounds (10.0) and offensive rebounds (3.7), while also ranking No. 2 in steals (2.3) and defensive rebounds (6.4).
Crawford, who led the conference in rebounds overall with a 9.7 average as well as offensive rebounds by averaging 3.4 boards a contest, had eight games in which she recorded a double-double for the Frogs, while leading TCU in rebounding during 23 contests.
The Arlington native closed last season ranking No. 36 overall in the NCAA in rebounds per game. She also had a stretch in which she led TCU in both scoring and rebounds during conference play five different times, while also leading the Frogs in scoring on six different occasions.
If you could compare your style of play to one player, who would it be?

How much have you seen the team change in the last few months with the loss of four seniors?

How has the team gone about off-season workouts?
"We have been very dedicated to becoming a stronger team and putting in the extra work."
What are you looking forward to most this season?
"I am most looking forward to playing the first game since I was not able to finish last season. I am also looking forward to seeing how our style of play has changed with the loss of last year's seniors."
What would you say is your biggest strength as a ballplayer?
"My biggest strength is probably the fact that I am often shorter than my opponent, which pushes me to give extra effort."
What advise would you give little girls wanting to play basketball?
"I would tell them to work as hard as possible and never let anyone tell them that they aren't good enough."
What did you done this summer for fun?
"This summer I went to plenty of barbeques. I also took some trips to Houston."
What did you do this summer basketball wise?
"I worked on my cardio to get back to being 100 percent before the season starts."
