FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Two TCU men's tennis seniors were selected to All-Mountain West Conference teams in a vote of the league's head coaches, the MWC office announced Wednesday. Emanuel Brighiu and Christopher Price were both named to the All-MWC Singles and Doubles teams.
Brighiu was placed on both the All-MWC Singles and Doubles squads for the third-straight season. He has been named to the doubles squad each of his four seasons at TCU and now has combined to earn seven all-league accolades in his career. The Iasi, Romania native enjoyed a 5-1 record from the top spot in the lineup against the league this spring, while earning an 11-12 overall clip this spring.
Price earned his first career MWC singles selection after cruising through the conference schedule with an unbeaten 6-0 ledger. The Houston, Texas product was 13-9 overall this spring, drifting between the No. 3 and No. 5 positions for the Frogs.
Brighiu and Price joined forces to claim All-MWC considerations for the second-consecutive season. The duo teamed up to go 17-6 overall in spring dual-match play, including a 4-2 record in MWC matches. The pair is ranked No. 48 nationally, looking to return to the NCAA Doubles Championships in back-to-back seasons.
TCU begins play in the 2011 Mountain West Conference Men's Tennis Championships Wednesday in Fort Collins, Colo., when it faces seventh-seeded Air Force at 3:30 p.m. CT in one of three quarterfinal matches. The match was pushed back 30 minutes due to weather conditions.
