TCU Ends Weekend At ITA Texas Regional Championships

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The TCU men's tennis team picked up big wins and collected a wealth of good experience at the 2011 ITA Texas Regional Championships at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center last weekend.
The Horned Frogs had a pair of singles players advance to the Round of 16 in the main draw bracket. Freshman Nick Chappell defeated Texas Tech's Rafael Pfister, 6-4, 7-6 (4), to get out of the Round of 32, while junior JT Sundling needed three sets to upend Jacoby Lewis from Texas, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3. Sophomore Max Stevens rallied through the men's consolation bracket, taking home the title with a 6-4, 6-4 decision against Rob Lee of Lamar in the consolation finals.
TCU had a doubles pairing reach as high as the Round of 16 in the main draw bracket. The fifth-seeded duo of senior Paul Chappell and Sundling teamed up to defeat a tandem from Lamar.
