Frogs Enjoy Solid Start At ITA Texas Regionals

TOURNAMENT DRAWS
COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The TCU men's tennis team pushed six singles players through to the second day of the 2011 ITA Texas Regional Championship Friday at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
Senior Paul Chappell and freshman Will Stein each collected a pair of single wins on the day. Chappell rallied to steal the final two sets from SMU's Mischa Nowicki, 2-6, 6-4, 7-5, followed by a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Shane Kyral from UT-Pan American. Stein reached the Round of 32 after posting a 6-4, 6-1 win against Andrew Maingot from Texas A&M Corpus Christi, 6-4, 6-1, and ended the evening with a 6-4, 6-1 decision over SMU's Rob Lambeth.
Others Frogs to pick up wins Friday included senior Daniel Sanchez and newcomers JT Sundling, Orlando Superlano and Nick Chappell. Sanchez picked up a straight-set win against Sam Garforth-Bles from Rice, 7-6 (8), 6-2, while Sundling cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory against TAMU's Beau Blackshear. Superlano landed in the Round of 32 after dismantling Baylor's Robert Verzaal, 6-1, 6-3, and Nick Chappell took care of business after a slow start with a 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 win against Sudanwa Sitaram of Texas.
TCU will be back in action Saturday for another full slate of singles and doubles action.
