MIDLAND, Texas--Zach Nichols was eliminated from the men's singles bracket on the final day of the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational Sunday. The Horned Frog senior had posted three victories earlier in the tournament to reach the event's semifinals.
Nichols dropped a 6-4, 7-6 decision to Maryland's Maros Horny in his semifinal match. Horny formerly played for Baylor before transferring to Maryland.
With Nichols and senior Paul Chappell having already opened their fall season, the rest of the TCU men's tennis team will follow suit next weekend at the HEB Baylor Invitational in Waco, Texas. The tournament runs Friday, Sept. 24 through Sunday, Sept. 26 at the Baylor Tennis Center.
