Nichols Advances at Racquet Club Invitational

MIDLAND, Texas--Senior Zach Nichols continued his run at the season-opening Racquet Club Invitational Saturday with a pair of singles victories to earn a spot in the semifinals of the men's main draw.
Nichols posted straight-sets wins of 6-1, 6-2 over Texas Tech's David Pace and 6-2, 6-2 over New Mexico's Jadon Phllips to reach Sunday's semifinal round. The No. 6 overall seed in the main draw, Nichols will face Maryland's Maros Horny on Sunday.
In doubles action, Nichols and junior teammate Paul Chappell were bounced from the main doubles bracket by Oklahoma's pairing of Formentara/Warden, 8-5.
