FORT WORTH—The TCU men’s tennis team made a major move in Tuesday’s latest release of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) national team rankings. The squad was listed at No. 39 Tuesday, only one spot off its top rating this season.
The Horned Frogs, which had been tumbling recently and fell to a season-low position of No. 55 position last week, experienced a 17-spot jump in the rankings thanks to Friday’s dominating 6-1 victory over then-No. 24 Tulsa. The win moved TCU’s season record to 5-2, including 2-2 against ranked opponents. The Golden Hurricane fell seven spots following the loss to No. 31.
TCU’s earned its highest position of the season of No. 38 in the preseason rankings.
Other opponents on the Frogs 2010 spring schedule included in the newest rankings include: Texas Tech (No. 15), Baylor (No. 16), Oklahoma (No. 20), Fresno State (No. 22), BYU (No. 23), Texas A&M (No. 28), Rice (No. 51), Columbia (No. 55) and UNLV (No. 56).
TCU returns to the courts looking for its third straight victory this Thursday, March 11, when it plays host to No. 20 Oklahoma at 1 p.m. The match will be held at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
