FORT WORTH—TCU women’s basketball will hold its annual WBCA Pink Zone celebration this Saturday during the Lady Frogs’ home matchup with Wyoming at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. A women’s health fair set to begin one hour prior to the Noon tip-off will highlight the day’s events.
The Pink Zone initiative is a global, unified effort for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.
A pre-game women’s health fair, hosted by the Harris College of Nursing and Health Sciences, has been scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. and run throughout the game. Educational booths regarding issues facing women’s health will be located throughout the DMC concourse. Health professionals will be on hand to answer questions on such topics as breast cancer, heart disease, nutrition, exercise, ovarian cancer, depression, alcohol and tobacco, self defense and many others.
Participants for Saturday’s event include: Susan G. Koman for the Cure, the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, National Cervical Cancer Coalition, American Heart Association, Advocare, Safe Haven, TCU Campus Life and the TCU Counseling Center.
The first 500 individuals in attendance for event will receive a free pink tote back compliments of The MountainWest Sports Network (The Mtn.).
The Lady Frogs will show their support for the WBCA’s Pink Zone initiative by sporting new pink and purple uniforms that the squad unveiled on the road Wednesday during the squad's 105-96 victory in four overtimes over Utah.
Tickets for the game are available for $8 (adults), $5 (under 17) and $3 (groups of 10 or more) and can be purchased in advance through the TCU Athletics Ticket Office by calling (817) 257-FROG or logging on to GoFrogs.com.
