TCU Head Coach Jeff Mittie
On the rebound change from the first half to the second half:
"That was my focus the whole game and during timeouts. It was almost right away they were getting second and third chance shots with a lot of long rebounds. We knew our zone would force them into some three's, which turned into those long rebounds that we were not chasing real well."
On the play of his team tonight:
"We looked like we were still stuck in the Virgin Islands in terms of our legs. We looked like our legs got more bounce as the game went on. I think we rebounded better because of that. I don't think it was anything we did better technique wise other than continuing to emphasize that we had to rebound. I think once they got their minds right is when we started to attack the ball better."
On the team's defensive play in second half:
"We were not flying around the first three or four minutes of the half. Our zone is designed to press the wings away from the basket and we didn't do a very good job of that during the first half. You could just sense we did not have a lot of energy to start the half. When we got down 32-35 it was our defense who got us going at first, which allowed Emily to hit back-to-back three's to get us moving."
On Houston:
"I think they had a pretty good team. We were never able to go inside. Overall, I was impressed with Houston."
TCU Senior Center Micah Garoutte
On stepping up the defense after they came out and hit three quick three's in second half:
"Coach called the timeout and we were able to re-focus as a team. Coach pointed out that we were not giving our best efforts and we realized we were not doing our best. That is something we have to work on in the future. We have to get ourselves prepared for the half and the game."
TCU Senior Forward Rachel Rentschler
On her outside shooting tonight in the second half:
"Helena did a real good job penetrating tonight and my defender sat-down. I had a wide open shot and I took it with confidence."
