Scouting Houston Baptist
Houston Baptist comes into Sunday's game with a 3-7-1 overall record. In their last outing, the Huskies battled Lamar to a 1-1 draw in double overtime on Wednesday. Sophomore Chelsea Thornhill netted HBU's lone goal of the match off an assist from Tori Adame in the 17th minute. For the contest, Lamar outshot Houston Baptist, 36-16, including a 19-5 advantage in the second half. Goalkeeper Shelby Horn posted a career-high 11 saves for the Huskies.
On the year, senior Isla Cameron leads the Huskie attack with five goals, while also dishing out one assist. HBU's three victories have come against Sam Houston State, Grambling State and Texas Southern. Overall, Houston Baptist, who is 0-3-1 on the road this fall, has posted 11 goals on the season. Seven different student-athletes have found the back of the net for HBU this fall.
The Huskies, who are a member of the Great West Conference, are led by Misty Jones. Jones is in her fifth year as head coach and helped HBU reach the 2009 conference tournament finals.
Scouting TCU
TCU, who is 5-6-1 entering Sunday's contest, is coming off a 1-0 double overtime loss to San Diego State on Friday.
Overall, TCU, who dominated during stretches of play on Friday, missed on several scoring breakaway's throughout the match, including a shot by Jordan Calhoun in the first overtime period that hit the post. Senior Jackie Torda appeared to have given the Horned Frogs a 1-0 victory late in the second half, but her shot in the 87th minute was derailed by the crossbar. In total, the Purple and White found themselves deep in Aztec territory throughout the conference opener, just missing as several balls either bounced off the post or hit the crossbar. SDSU held a slight advantage in shot attempts on Friday night, 21-15. Torda and Calhoun both posted three shots apiece, respectively.
The Purple and White, who are 2-3-1 at home this fall, will close non-conference play on Sunday. The Frogs are led on offense by Calhoun and Kim Castleberry, who have both netted four goals apiece, respectively. Senior Kelsey Walters has played the majority of the minutes between the posts this fall and has recorded 37 saves on the year.
