
Frogs Begin USTA/ITA Texas Regional Saturday

FORT WORTH—The TCU men's tennis team travels to College Station, Texas, this weekend for the 2010 USTA/ITA Texas Regional Championships at Texas A&M's George P. Mitchell Tennis Center. Competition begins Saturday, Oct. 23, and runs through Tuesday, Oct. 26.
The Texas regional tournament serves as one of 12 nationwide qualifiers for the 2009 Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, which will be held Nov. 4-7 in Flushing, N.Y. The singles and doubles champions from each regional will earn automatic berths to national indoors.
TCU will be joined by 12 other schools competing in College Station this weekend, including: Baylor, Lamar, Prairie View A&M, Rice, SMU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, UT Arlington, UT Pan American and UT San Antonio.
The Horned Frogs will feature eight student-athletes in action, with each competing in both singles and doubles: seniors Emanuel Brighiu, Cameron Nash, Zach Nichols and Christopher Price; juniors Paul Chappell and Slah Mbarek; and sophomores Santiago Centeno and Sören Goritzka.
The Frogs will team up in the following pairs for doubles play: Brighiu/Price (ranked No. 23 nationally), Centeno/Goritzka, Chappell/Nichols and Mbarek/Nash.
Preliminary action will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, and Sunday, Oct. 24. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played on Monday, Oct. 25, followed by the finals on Tuesday, Oct. 26. First serve each day will be at approximately 8:30 a.m.
