Frogs Hit Courts at Futures of Mansfield Tourney

MANSFIELD, Texas—Two Frogs advanced to the second round of singles play Saturday, as several members of the TCU men's tennis team competed at the Futures of Mansfield USTA Pro Circuit tournament.
Senior captains Emanuel Brighiu and Christopher Price both posted first-round victories in straight sets Saturday. Brighiu downed Kevin Gardner (ANT), 6-3, 6-2, while Price eased past Varun Walia (IND), 6-3, 6-0. Brighiu will face Nicola Remedia (ITA) in Round 2 action Sunday, while Price will take on 14th-seeded Alexios Halebian (USA).
TCU senior Zach Nichols and junior Paul Chappell also competed Saturday, dropping first-round matches. Nichols was downed by Zachary Northy (USA), 6-4, 6-3, while Chappell was forced to retire in his match against Dennis Novikov (USA) while trailing, 6-1, 3-1.
Brighiu and Price continue play at the Futures of Mansfield tournament Sunday.
