
TCU Names Athletes of the Month

FORT WORTH - TCU has selected Zvonko Buljan (Split, Croatia I Vincennes University) and Helena Sverrisdottir (Hafnarfjordor, Iceland I Flansborg HS) as its Athletes of the Month for December. Emily Carter (Bossier City, La. I Airline HS) and Edvinas Ruzgas (Vilnius, Lithuania I Weatherford College) were named TCU's Scholar-Athletes of the Month.
Buljan averaged 16.8 points per game in the month of December for the Horned Frog basketball team. In that six-game span, he accounted for 7.2 rebounds while making 58.5 percent of his. At Wichita State He set a career high by scoring 29 points at Wichita State, followed by a double-double (14 points, 11 rebounds) against Texas Tech.
Sverrisdottir led the TCU women's team to a 5-1 record in December. She averaged 17.3 points, 3.7 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.0 blocked shots per game. In the six-game run, she led the team in scoring three times, including 20-point efforts against No. 5 Texas A&M (20) and Houston (26).
Carter totaled 14.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game for the Lady Frogs in the month of December. She shot 53.7 percent from the field and 83.3 percent at the free throw line while hitting at a 41.7 percent rate from behind the arc. Twice she scored 20-plus points in the points.
Ruzgas went for 14.3 points and 3.5 rebounds per game this past month. He connected on 51.9 percent of his shots overall. Against St. Gregory's, he scored a career-high 31 points while drilling seven 3-pointers in the game.
