LAST TIME WE MET: TCU 60, WYOMING 47
FORT WORTH (Feb. 21, 2009)--TCU posted its fifth consecutive victory during a 60-47 win over Wyoming. TK LaFleur and Helena Sverrisdottir each scored in double figures to lead the Lady Frogs, which never trailed in the game.
Wyoming had a tough time keeping up with the Frogs, as an aggressive effort on the defensive end helped limit the Cowgirls to only 28.1% shooting (16-of-57), including only 5-of-26 from 3-point range.
TCU had a rough go from the field itself, shooting only 32.7%, but often was able to make its way to the free-throw line, where it outscored Wyoming by 10 points (20-10). The squad managed to take care of the ball on the offensive end and gave up only eight turnovers. They also were able to make the Cowgirls pay for their mistakes with 16 points scored off just 12 miscues.
LaFleur led the Frogs in scoring with 17 points while going 6-of-13 from the field and 3-for-6 behind the arc. Sverrisdottir had 15 points, thanks in part to a 9-of-10 showing at the charity stripe. Micah Garoutte added nine points and four rebounds, while Emily Carter and Antoinette Thompson led the team in rebounding with seven each from their guard spots. Thompson's total marked a then-career high.
