
Von Uhlit leads TCU Over South Carolina On Sunday

BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. - TCU used three MVP honors on Sunday afternoon, including two by senior Carrie von Uhlit, to down South Carolina at One Wood Farm, 10-9."I thought we had a very good day today," said assistant coach Kindel Huffman. "Overall, we had a nice weekend and really came together as a team on both sides. We have had a great start to the season and I am excited to see what we will do the rest of the year."
Von Uhlit had a dominating day against the Gamecocks, winning both the Reining and Horsemanship competitions. The California native upended Lydia Roof in Reining, 69-58, to collect a point for the Frogs. Also winning on Sunday in Reining were Kelsey Huffman and Chloe Baker.
In Horsemanship, Von Uhlit downed Emily Bookwalter, 77-74.5, while Baker and Courtney Chown were also victorious, winning 75.5-72.5 and 71-68.5, respectively. Finally, sophomore Lyndsi Hardin secured the 4-1 Horsemanship victory, defeating the Gamecocks' Amy Biffle.
Overall, TCU outscored South Carolina in Western events, 7-3, at One Wood Farm.
In Equitation over Fences, freshmen Taylor Frederick and Callie Selchau both collected points, defeating Abbey Rohde and Paige Dekko, respectively. Victoria Lee, a Cordova, Tenn., native, just missed recording a point for the Purple and White, tying Eleanor Kunsman, 86-86.
Finally, Jessica Hagen earned MVP accolades in Equitation on the Flat, scoring the lone point for TCU in the event. The junior downed Megan Massaro on Sunday, 84-76.
With the win, the Horned Frogs moved to 3-2-0 on the season, while South Carolina dropped to 0-1-0.
TCU will next be in action at Kansas State on Oct. 2.
