FORT WORTH, Texas - GoFrogs.com caught up with senior forward Lizzy Karoly last week to get her thoughts on the soccer program heading into her final season as a Horned Frog.
Karoly was a 2008 Mountain West Conference All-Tournament Squad selection, while also being named to the 2008 Second-team All-Mountain West Conference Team . She netted a career-best 11 goals on the season, while also dishing out a career-best seven assists last fall.
What are you doing this summer for the upcoming season?
"This summer I am focusing on getting healthy and making sure I am ready for next season. I am following my treatment and workout plans to prepare myself for the season. I am doing everything I can to make sure I am healthy and ready to go in August."
What do you expect this season from the team?
"This season I expect a lot from our team. I expect us to compete for a Mountain West Conference Championship and NCAA bid. I think we are going to have a strong team and I know everyone is going to give everything they have to achieve our goals."
What do you like to do off the field?
"When I'm not on the soccer field my favorite thing to do is spend time with friends. We are very busy during season and we don't get a whole lot of free time to just hang out. I enjoy playing games, going to concerts and just doing fun things with my friends."
If you could be on a television show for one day, what would it be and why?
"If I could be on a television show for one day I would be on Gossip Girls. They have the craziest lives and the best gossip. It sounds fun to me."
Who is you favorite soccer player and why?
"One of my favorite soccer players is Shannon MacMillan. She went to the same high school as me and I have had the opportunity to meet her many times. She was such a hard worker when she played and I respect that so much."
If you could play any sport other then soccer, what would it be and why?
"I would love to be a gymnast. I am incredibly jealous of them and if I could do the splits or a flip I would probably not be playing soccer. But I am not even close to doing either, so soccer it is."
How excited are you for this season?
"I am so excited for this season, but also a little sad at the same time. It is my senior season, my last one in our amazing stadium. I know this season is going to be the best one yet and our team is going to be extremely successful. At the same time, however, I am so sad to be leaving after this year. The four years flew by, but it has been amazing and I have so many memories I will never forget. I am ready to have the best season and leave Garvey Rosenthal Soccer Stadium with a bang!"
