TCU head coach Dan Abdalla sat down with GoFrogs.com this week and talked about some of the fun contests his girls do during the spring season.
Yesterday, the most random thing I have ever seen happened. I looked out my window and snowflakes were coming down in a flurry. You certainly won't see this very often and it is a rarity in the state of Texas. Who would have thought about building a snowman as we get ready for spring break.
After our win last week over Iowa State, the girls earned a weekend off to relax and get ready for midterms. In the spring, we generally will train on Saturday and use it as a day to scrimmage. We have our team draft two teams for the entire spring and then keep score on different contests, grades, fitness testing and fun stuff. Things really get going on the days we mix it up.
Basketball is a favorite of the team and right behind that we've had some crazy intense dodgeball games. Last spring finished up with an all out knockdown match of paintball and it was great. Rock climbing, mechanical bull riding and softball have all been in the mix. I think next week we've got a game of charades planned, it should be fun and I'll let you know how it goes.
The Purple versus White competition definitely proves to be one of the highlights of the spring and helps create a very competitive environment.
Against Iowa State, we played with crispness and a bite that shows the team has been working hard. Really, the only bad thing is now we've got to wait until after spring break for the next match.
That is it for this week and I hope everyone has a safe and fun spring break.
