FORT WORTH—Lady Frog junior TK LaFleur has been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. The award marked the first such honor of her career.
La Fleur averaged 22.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in helping the Lady Frogs start 2-0 for only the eighth time in school history, and the first time since 2005-06. She scored a career-high 28 points on 10-of-17 shooting, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range, during TCU's season-opening upset of No. 3 Maryland last Friday. She scored 18 of her points in the second half, en route to TCU's second-ever win over a top-3 team.
The Houston, Texas, native went on to tally 16 points and tie her career high with six rebounds during TCU's 73-60 victory over UT San Antonio on Sunday. She hit three 3-pointers, all in the first half, against the Roadrunners to help push the Frogs out to a 12-point halftime advantage. The two games marked LaFleur's first game action as a Horned Frog after sitting out last season following her transfer from Nebraska.
TCU returns to the court Thursday, Nov. 18, when it plays host to Metroplex rival UT Arlington for a 6:30 p.m. tip-off.
