
Men's tennis completes action at Baylor Intercollegiate

WACO, Texas - Casey Powers fell in the semifinals on Sunday at the Baylor Intercollegiate to wrap up the weekend for the TCU men's tennis team in Waco, Texas. The men will return to action on Saturday in Tulsa, Okla., for the ITA All-American.
Powers fell to Francisco Segura of Laredo CC 6-1, 6-3 after winning four consecutive singles matches in straight sets to advance to the semifinals.
Other notable performances came from newcomers Zach Nichols and Adrian Simon. Nichols advanced to the quarterfinals of the men's open singles "A" draw, with impressive victories over No. 9 Milan Mihailovic (Texas) and No. 8 Dominik Mueller (Baylor), who are ranked No. 72 and No. 61 in the preseason Fila/ITA poll, respectively. Simon scored two victories to advance to the round of 16, including an upset win over No. 7 Thomas Liversage of San Diego, who is ranked No. 60 nationally.
Hubert Chodkiewicz of Texas went on to win the singles "B" draw, while his Longhorn teammate Kellen Damico claimed the singles "A" draw title. Wisconsin's Luke Rassow-Kantor and Jeremy Sonkin won the doubles "B" draw and Jonas Berg and Erling Tvet of Ole Miss earned the doubles "A" draw crown.
The TCU netters will now turn their focus to the ITA All-American held in Tulsa, Okla., from Sept. 29 through Oct. 7.
