Cotet earns trip to main draw of Futures event

COSTA MESA, Calif. - Cosmin Cotet, a senior on the TCU men's tennis team, won his fourth consecutive match in the USA F23 Futures qualifying draw on Monday to punch his ticket to the singles main draw.
Cotet, who is the qualifying draw's No. 3 seed, won his fourth straight match in as many days against Sebastian Rivera (ECU). Cotet needed three sets to get the win for the first time in the tournament, taking the match 6-7(2), 6-2, 6-0.
Cotet recently received a fall preseason Fila/ITA collegiate tennis singles ranking of No. 54 and a doubles ranking of No. 22 with partner Kriegler Brink after earning All-Mountain West Conference honors in both singles and doubles last season.
The schedule for the main draw has not yet been released.
