TCU women blank Wyoming, 4-0

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The No. 38 TCU women's tennis team cruised to a 4-0 victory over Wyoming on Thursday at the AFA Outdoor Tennis Center to advance to the semifinals on Friday at 11 a.m. CT. The win improved the Horned Frogs to 17-9 overall and 8-1 in MWC play, while dropping the Cowgirls to 6-15 on the season and 2-7 in conference play.
"We came out with good intensity in doubles and turned it around in a couple of spots when we needed to," said TCU head coach Jefferson Hammond. "I'm really happy with our focus going into the next match."
The doubles team of Ana Cetnik and Kewa Nichols started play with an 8-1 rout of Wyoming's Michelle Brown and Corina Lazar.
Anna Sydorska and Nina Munch-Soegaard followed at the No. 1 position with an 8-4 victory over Andrea House and Karolina Rowinski to clinch the doubles point.
The TCU tandem of Karine Ionesco and Andrea Morgado would immediately follow with an 8-5 win over Carolina Chaix and Jamie Nelson to complete the doubles sweep.
No. 99 Munch-Soegaard led off singles play with an impressive 6-0, 6-0 defeat of Rowinski at the No. 1 spot. The win pushed the freshman's singles record to 21-5 this spring.
No. 54 Cetnik put the Frogs up 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 defeat of Brown at the No. 3 position, while Morgado clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-1 decision over Nelson at the No. 5 spot.
The following matches were all stopped due to the TCU victory, as No. 85 Sydorska, Nichols and Ionesco were all leading their Wyoming opponents.
The Frogs will play the winner of the UNLV-Utah match on Friday in the semifinals at 11 a.m. CT. Live stats and complete results will be available at www.gofrogs.com.
