AUSTIN, Texas - The TCU men's tennis team wrapped up action at the Wilson/ITA South Central Regional Championship on Monday as Kriegler Brink fell in the quarterfinals of the singles main draw.
Brink, a junior from Gauteng, South Africa, fell to No. 4 Conor Pollock of Texas A&M by a score of 2-6, 6-2, 1-6 in the quarterfinal round. Brink won four matches over the weekend, including two matches over nationally ranked opponents.
"All three sets were closer than the score indicated," said TCU head coach Dave Borelli. "Kriegler's opponent played very well, as did Kriegler, but he just didn't serve good enough today to capture the points."
The Frogs enjoyed a successful weekend, knocking off four seeded opponents in singles play. Brink defeated No. 5 Ralph Knupfer of Rice and No. 9 Sinisa Markovic of Texas Tech, while TCU freshmen Zach Nichols and Adrian Simon defeated No. 9 Ilya Babinciuc of Texas Tech and No. 3 Jerry Makowski of Texas A&M, respectively.
"I'm very pleased and excited where we are right now as a team," Borelli continued. "We have a lot of work ahead of us."
