Menichini advances in opening rounds of Futures event

MANSFIELD, Texas - TCU women's tennis volunteer assistant coach Alex Menichini won two matches to advance to the round of 16 of the singles qualifying draw at the USA F26 Futures event in Mansfield, Texas.
Menichini defeated Adam Becker (CAN) by a score of 6-4, 6-1 in the opening round on Saturday to advance to the round of 32 in the qualifying draw. Menichini earned another straight sets victory over Jose Farias (USA), 6-0, 6-1, to move on to the round of 16. Menichini will return to action on Monday at 10 a.m.
Menichini starred for the TCU men's tennis team from 2002-2004, reaching as high as No. 22 in the singles ranking. The Calabasas, Calif., native was also named to the C-USA All-Decade Team.
