Postgame Notes
TCU saw its 13-game winning streak end. It was the longest in the nation and just one victory shy of equaling the school record of 14 in a row set in the 1937-38 seasons.
The Horned Frogs saw their seven-game home winning streak end with their first Amon G. Carter Stadium defeat since a 35-31 loss to Tulane in the 2004 season finale. TCU is now 31-5 at home since the start of the 2000 season.
Jeff Ballard took his first loss as TCU's starting quarterback. He is now 11-1.
TCU surrendered its most points in a game since last year's 51-50 overtime victory at BYU.
Wide receiver Michael DePriest made his first start of the season and had his first reception of the year with a 16-yard catch on the game's opening play. DePriest played for the first time in 2006 against Texas Tech on Sept. 16. He missed the opening two contests with an arm injury.
Tailback Lonta Hobbs, after missing the season's opening three games with an ankle injury, made his first appearance of 2006. It was also his first action since suffering a season-ending groin injury in week two at SMU last year. Hobbs was playing at home for the first time since rushing for 124 yards in the 2004 season finale versus Tulane. He finished the night with 21 yards on five carries.
BYU's first-quarter 21-yard field goal by Jared McLaughlin marked the third time in four games this season that TCU's opponent scored first in the game.
TCU's second-quarter fumble at the BYU 10 represented the first time it failed to score in 13 trips inside the red zone this season.
The Frogs falling behind 10-0 in the second quarter represented their largest deficit since last year's game at BYU (Sept. 24), when TCU rallied from an 18-point deficit (34-16) for a 51-50 overtime win.
Chris Manfredini was short on a 39-yard second-quarter field goal, marking his first miss in 20 attempts in his two years at TCU (2005-06). He made a 36-yard kick later in the quarter. He is now 20-of-21 on field goals with the Frogs and 30-of-32 in his collegiate career.
Tight end Brent Hecht's 2-yard third-quarter touchdown reception was his second career scoring catch. He had a 15-yard touchdown grab at Air Force last season. Hecht now has at least one reception in nine of the last 10 games.
Aaron Brown's seven-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter was his fifth score of the season and the 14th of his career.
Donald Massey posted a career-high 85 receiving yards on a personal-best eight catches. His previous best was four catches and 63 receiving yards at Air Force on Oct. 22, 2005.
