GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico (AP) -- Ashley Davis scored 23 points, Adrianne Ross made two free throws in the final seconds and TCU beat No. 17 DePaul in the San Juan Shootout Championship 74-73 on Thursday night.
Ross, who scored all 14 of her points in the second half, was fouled with four seconds remaining and converted both free throws to end a 10-game win streak for the Blue Demons (10-2).
"We struggled at the free throw line all night," eighth-year head coach Jeff Mittie said, referring to the fact that his team shot a season-low 34.6 percent from the foul line. "However, Adrianne made her free throws when it mattered most. She did a good job and knocked down two tough free throws. DePaul is an explosive team and I'm very proud of the way our team battled tonight."
After trailing for most of the second half, DePaul rallied with an 8-0 run and took a 73-72 lead on 3-pointer by Jenna Rubino with ten seconds remaining. A foul by Allie Quigley put Ross on the free-throw line.
DePaul led the entire first half, going up 32-21 with 5:42 to play on a jumpshot by China Threatt, who finished with 10 points. They led 38-36 at halftime.
Davis, who shot 5-of-7 from behind the 3-point line, also grabbed five rebounds for TCU (8-4). Hanna Biernacka added 19 points. Rubino led four Blue Demons in double figures with 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Caprice Smith added 14 points.
Tournament MVP Davis matched her career-high in points with 23, after making an impressive 9-of-13 shots from the field, including five 3-pointers. Biernacka also had a career night with 19 points and six rebounds. Ross, named to the all-tournament team for the second time this season, added 14 points, four assists and two steals. For the third game in a row, junior forward Lorie Butler-Rayford pulled down double-figure rebounds. She finished the night with 11 boards and nine points.
"This was an important win for us because it put us on the map," Davis said. "It makes people aware of us. We battled tonight, never gave up and everyone played together as a team. More than anything, our team just wanted this very bad."
