
TCU doubles duo Barbu and Cotet advance to quarterfinals

FORT WORTH, Texas - Radu Barbu and Cosmin Cotet teamed up in the doubles main draw of the Wilson/ITA South Central Regional being held on the TCU campus to advance to the quarterfinals. The duo defeated Texas A&M's Clay Donato and John Nallon 8-4 on Sunday, and will face the No. 5 pair of David Galic and Matt Brown of Baylor at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
"I was very pleased with the play of Radu and Cosmin today," said TCU men's tennis head coach Dave Borelli. "Radu is really coming around after a lingering injury."
On the season, Barbu and Cotet are 3-0 when playing together, and 14-1 including last season.
TCU sophomore Kriegler Brink advanced to the singles round of 16 after defeating No. 10 Denes Lukacs of Baylor 2-6, 6-2, 7-5, before falling to No. 7 Bojan Szumanski of Texas Tech one match short of the quarterfinals.
"Kriegler played a great mental match earlier in the day when he came back against Lukacs of Baylor," said TCU head coach Dave Borelli.
Chris Biro fell to No. 1 Lars Poerschke 6-2, 7-6 after recording two opening day wins on Saturday.
"Chris is really starting to play, and I'm very excited about that," said Borelli. "I'm really happy with where our team is at right now."
