
Women's swimming team defeats North Texas

DENTON, Texas - The TCU women's swimming and diving team picked up its sixth win of the fall semester with a 152-130 decision over North Texas on Thursday night in Denton. A trio of Horned Frogs were two-event winners as TCU cruised to victory.
Standout sprinter Erica Tate won both the 100-yard freestyle (53.69) and the 100-yard butterfly (58.89). Christi Cannon was strong in the mid-distance events, as she was victorious in the 500-yard freestyle (5:15.30) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:33.31). Two-time Mountain West Conference Diver of the Week Kelly Seely continued her impressive senior campaign, as she again swept the 1-meter (255.45) and 3-meter (285.22) diving events.
Other Horned Frog individual winners included: Emily Duerringer in the 50-yard freestyle (25.05), Sarah Bardwell in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:41.18) and Tara Sullivan in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.49).
The Horned Frogs also won both relay events, the 400-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay. The medley squad (Keleigh Wentworth, Maribeth Pottenger, Tate and Duerringer) recorded a time of 4:00.89, while the freestyle team (Tate, Kelly Wannemacher, Duerringer and Leann Cathcart) finished in 1:39.38.
The TCU men's and women's swimming teams will travel to Austin for the University of Texas Invitational Dec. 1-3. It is the final event of the fall for both squads.
