LINCOLN, Neb. - Thursday's first round of the NCAA Women's Golf Central Regional has been postponed due to rain and thunderstorms in the Lincoln, Neb. area, tournament officials announced at 1:30 p.m. (CT). Heavy rain began falling overnight in the Lincoln area and continued through mid-day. Play never got underway at the Firethorn Golf Club, so all 21 teams and three individuals are slated to play 36 holes on Friday, beginning with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. (CT).
The Horned Frogs are competing in their eighth straight NCAA Regional, and are looking to land in the NCAA Championships for the ninth time in school history and the first time since 2000. TCU, rated 29th in the most recent Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, is seeded 11th in the region.
Three regional tournaments are scheduled for May 8-10, and will determine the championships field. Eight teams and two individuals will advance from each region to the 2003 NCAA Championships at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Ind. from May 20-23.
