"It's gone by too quickly," Ingram said. "It's been such a part of my life. It's been a fun 300, and I have a gray hair for every one of them."
In his 18 seasons at TCU Ingram has coached six top-25 teams, including this year's, and won two conference titles, one in 1991 in the Southwest Conference and the other last season in the Western Athletic Conference. Ingram was named Southwest Conference Coach of the Year in 1986 and 1991 and WAC Coach of the Year in 2000.
Ingram began his coaching career in 1966 at Amarillo High School. He left Amarillo in 1974, taking over the head coaching duties at Midland Junior College. In 1974, his Midland squad captured the NJCAA National Championship, while also winning the national singles and doubles competitions. Before coming to TCU, Ingram served as head tennis professional at Colonial Country Club for seven years.
As a college player at Schreiner College in Kerrville, Texas, Ingram was both the single and doubles national champion at the 1961 Junior College Championships. He completed his college career at North Texas, earning both his bachelor's (1965) and master's (1966) degree in Denton.
This season the Horned Frogs are currently ranked 26th in the country at 14-3. The Frogs are also on an 11-match winning streak.
