FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU senior forward Kati Safaritova has been named Conference USA's Co-Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 9, the league office announced today. Safaritova, TCU's first recipient, shared the honor with sophomore guard Delacey Joseph of Tulane.
Safaritova was 9-of-15 from the floor and 3-of-5 from three-point range in a 78-67 win over traditional power Rutgers. She had a team-best 23 points and also added six rebounds and two assists. The native of Samorin, Slovakia, fell just three points shy of her career-high point total set last season.
Safaritova hit a crucial three-pointer at the halftime buzzer to give the Lady Frogs a six-point lead at intermission. The victory improved TCU to 5-2 on the year and was the first-ever for the school over a Big East opponent.
Safaritova, who was last year's offensive MVP, is currently averaging 11.7 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
