FORT WORTH, Texas (October 13, 2000) -- The TCU women's soccer team evened its overall record and Western Athletic Conference record on Friday, October 13, at 7-7-1 and 2-2 with a 3-1 victory over the San Jose State Spartans. The Spartans record fell to 6-10-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the WAC.
San Jose State scored their first and only goal early in the game at 2:20 when junior midfielder Kristina Jacob scored her fourth goal of the year, blasting a shot past TCU freshman goalkeeper Shannon Wagner.
With time running out in the first half, it appeared as if the Spartans would take a 1-0 lead at the half, but sophomore forward Sherry Dick dashed their hopes as she scored on a header from junior midfielder Ali Schloegel with only 20 seconds remaining on the clock.
The Horned Frogs scored the game-winner in the 70th minute of play when junior forward Crystal Pratz banged in a loose ball in front of the goal for her second of the year. Sherry Dick scored her second goal of the game 15 minutes later to seal the Frog's victory. Dick continues to lead the team in goals (7) and points (15).
TCU will take on Fresno State at home this Sunday, October 15, at 12 p.m. to finish their home schedule for the year. It will be the final home game for seniors Jackie Rodriguez, Christy Filice, Jennifer Maunder, and Tara Rudiger.
