FORT WORTH, Texas (October 15, 2000) -- The TCU women's soccer team concluded their home schedule on Sunday, October 15, in the inaugural year of the Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium with a 3-0 victory over the Bulldogs of Fresno State in a Western Athletic Conference match. The Frogs ended their home schedule with a record of 6-1, with all six wins coming consecutively. Sunday's game also marked the last home game for seniors Tara Rudiger, Christy Filice, Jennifer Maunder, and Jackie Rodriguez.
The Frogs struck quickly, scoring only three minutes in to the game, as freshman forward Jenny Swanson scored on a loose ball in front of the Fresno State goal for her third of the year. TCU struck again in the first half 30 minutes later when sophomore forward Sherry Dick netted her eighth goal of the year. Dick added the game's final goal in the second half when she broke free from the Fresno State defenders after receiving a pass from sophomore forward Nicole Carman and blasted the ball in the goal from 15 yards out.
TCU freshman goalkeeper Shannon Wagner recorded her fifth shutout of the year and recorded nine saves in the Frog's victory.
Sherry Dick scored four goals in two games for the Horned Frogs this week, scoring twice against San Jose State on Friday, October 13, and netting two goals in the Fresno State match.
The win improved TCU's overall record to 8-7-1 on the year and 3-2 in the WAC. The loss dropped Fresno State's record to 9-7 overall and 3-3 in the WAC. TCU has now won consecutive matches for the first time since September 10 and 15 when they defeated Oklahoma State and Alabama. Fresno State has dropped three straight matches, losing 4-0 to UTEP back on October 8, 1-0 against SMU on October 13, and 3-0 to TCU.
The Frogs travel to Hawai'i on Thursday, October 19 to take on the Warriors at 7 p.m. The Frogs conclude Western Athletic Conference play next Sunday, October 22, when they take on Nevada at 1 p.m.
