Devin Bowen, a two-time ITA National Assistant Coach of the Year and all-time TCU men's tennis great, completed his 12th season as an assistant men's tennis coach at TCU in 2025. Since returning to Fort Worth, Bowen has led his alma mater to three national titles, including the 2024 NCAA Championship, and nine Big 12 championships and been responsible for the development of 11 All-Americans. He also coached Pedro Vives and Lui Maxted to the 2024 NCAA Doubles Championship.
Bowen, a TCU men's tennis student-athlete from 1991-94, returned to Fort Worth after spending more than 12 years as a professional tennis player in the ATP.
"We are extremely fortunate to have Devin at TCU," said head coach David Roditi. "When he played at TCU, he set the bar on how hard we could work and it is not any different as a coach. He has accomplished a lot because of his hard work, discipline and passion, which has a great influence on our players. Reaching the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open twice in his long and successful career in doubles is something to be very proud of. Devin is one of my best friends and I can't think of another person that could have a better influence on our players."
The 2019 and 2024 ITA National Assistant Coach of the Year, Bowen has helped elevate TCU into a national power since his return to Fort Worth. Through Bowen's guidance, TCU has captured three national team titles, going back-to-back as Indoor National champions in 2022 and 2023 before triumphing at the NCAA Championships in 2024.
The Horned Frogs have finished in the top-10 of the final ITA team rankings in each of his last 11 seasons on the sidelines. With Bowen serving as associate head coach, the Horned Frogs became just the seventh repeat ITA Indoor National Champion in the sport's history in 2022 and 2023. TCU is also the only program nationwide that has claimed back-to-back Indoor National Championships in the last 15 years and is one of just three in the history of college tennis to reach four consecutive Indoor Nationals finals.
A native of Newport Beach, Calif., Bowen was the lead coach during Pedro Vives and Lui Maxted's run to the NCAA Doubles Championship in November of 2024. The doubles aces surrendered just two sets total during their stampede through the 32-team bracket, downing a trio of top-10 opponents along the way.
Bowen has been a lead recruiter on many of the most successful players in TCU's Big 12 era, including All-Americans Cameron Norrie, Alex Rybakov, Reese Stalder, Jake Fearnley and Maxted, along with fellow ATP professionals Alastair Gray and Sander Jong. Through Bowen's leadership, TCU has garnered 26 ITA All-American citations between 12 players over his dozen years on the sidelines and generated 58 postseason All-Big 12 conference selections spanning 20 players.
Bowen was an extremely successful doubles player on the professional circuit after turning pro in 1994, reaching a career-high doubles ranking of No. 39 in 2003. Bowen played in all four Grand Slams and made it to the round of 32 at each event, including an appearance in the round of 16 at the Australian Open in 2002 and 2003 with former TCU standout Ashley Fisher. He garnered one doubles title with Fisher at Amersfoort in 2003 and was a finalist at four other events.
