Ran a season-best 4:19.10 in the mile at the Charlie Thomas Invitational on Feb. 7. Placed 10th in the mile at the 2020 Indoor Big 12 Track and Field Championships.

Byrne comes to TCU as a distance runner with success at the California state level. In cross country, Byrne brings a 3-mile mark of 14:42.40 and a 5000m time of 16:02.70. During his senior track season, Byrne reached the CIF Southern Section finals in the 1600m and 3200m where he recorded his personal-bests in both events. He finished second in both with marks of 4:13.55 and 9:08.80 respectively. He advanced to the CIF Southern Section Masters meet in the 1600m, where he finished eighth in 4:14.22.
