Trent saw action in 30 games during the 2015-16 season, while making 27 starts ... Closed the season, ranking No. 19 in the NCAA in steals, averaging 2.10 per game ... He also finished No. 32 in the NCAA in total number of steals for the year ... Even more impressive though is that Trent ranked No. 1 in the Big 12 Conference in steals overall and during league play with 2.5 per game ... Trent was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's Basketball Newcomer of the Week after posting the highest scoring newcomer in the conference the week of February 29 at 20 points per game ... He opened the week, scoring 15 points off the bench on 5-of-11 shooting from the field, including 2-of-4 from deep at Texas Tech ... Trent came back to tally a career-high 25 points on 6-of-13 from the floor, including 11-of-13 from the charity stripe, in a starting role against No. 19 Baylor ... Scored in double-figures in 19 games this season, while leading TCU in assists in 17 outings ... Tallied five or more assists in four games and led the Frogs in scoring in nine separate outings ... Ranked second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.6 points overall and tallied 63 steals on the year, which ranks sixth all-time in school history ... Scored in double-figures in six out of the last eight games of the year, including games of 17 versus Iowa State and 15 points against West Virginia in Kansas City ... His six steals at Oklahoma were the third most by an individual player overall in the Big 12 Conference ... His six steals were also the most of any Big 12 student-athlete in a league game in 2015-16 ... Trent also ranked No. 15 overall in the Big 12 in assists per game, averaging 2.7 per contest.
Prep Career
Trent came to TCU after competing at New Mexico Junior College ... The 6-foot-2 guard earned NJCAA All-American Honorable Mention accolades, as well as being named the NJCAA Freshman of the Year after averaging a team-leading 15.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game this past season ... The No. 1 rated combo guard in junior college according to 247Sports, Trent was a three-star rated prospect and ranked in the top-20 nationally among junior college prospects ... Originally from Portsmouth, Va., Trent shot 40 percent from behind the arc and led NMJC to a 23-9 overall record ... Prior to his time in Hobbs, Trent redshirted at Norfolk State before transferring to New Mexico Junior College in 2014 ... He originally graduated from Norcom High School in Virginia where he was the Eastern District Player of the Year as a senior, while being named to the All-Eastern Region First Team after totaling 19.6 points per game and 6.4 rebounds a contest.
