Competed in all four races for the Horned Frogs … Named All-American Honorable Mention by the Collegiate Triathlon Coaches Association … Made her debut at the DeGray Lake Triathlon (Sept. 10) where she finished second with a time of 1:04:43.50 … Gimena’s time at the DeGray Lake Triathlon ranks second all-time in program history … She added another top-10 finish at the Battle in the Fort Triathlon, placing ninth with a time of 1:09.43 (Sept. 17) … Led the Horned Frogs at the USAT West Regionals (Oct. 14) by placing ninth with a time of 1:04:55.66 … Gimena’s time at the USAT Regionals ranks as the fourth best time in program history … Placed 15th overall and second for the Horned Frogs at Nationals with her time of 1:05:24.50 (Nov. 11) … Gimena never placed outside of the top 15 at each race this season.

Sara Gimena is one of three incoming student-athletes hailing from Spain, making the move to Fort Worth from Ondara, Spain, which lies about 275 miles southeast of Madrid and off the coast of the Balearic Sea ... She finished in third-place at the National Triathlon Championships in 2020 and sixth-place overall in 2021 ... She also has a pair of top-15 finishes at the European Junior National Championships earlier this year.
Received the Matrícula de Honor after high school for excellent grades.
