Six players to join head coach Sonny Dykes at The Star in Frisco
IRVING, Texas – To kick off the anticipation for the 2026 college football season, six TCU players are set to join head coach Sonny Dykes at The Star in Frisco on July 8 for the annual Big 12 Football Media Days, the conference announced on Friday morning.
Transfer quarterback Jaden Craig joins returners Markis Deal, Ansel Din-Mbuh, Jamel Johnson, Paul Oyewale and Ben Taylor-Whitfield to talk all things TCU football with an assembly of local, regional and national college football media members.
The Horned Frogs begin their fifth season under the direction of head coach Sonny Dykes on August 29 in Dublin, Ireland, against the North Carolina Tar Heels. The 2022 National Coach of the Year led TCU to 36 wins in his first four seasons, the most by a TCU head coach since Francis Schmidt won 37 from 1929-32.
TCU will have a new starting quarterback directing the offense as Harvard transfer Craig takes the reins. Craig left the Crimson as one of the most accomplished quarterbacks in program history, finishing his career with multiple records. Joining the signal caller as another representative from the offensive side of the ball is Taylor-Whitfield, who looks to lead the offensive line unit after starting 22 games over the past two seasons.
Deal and Din-Mbuh were consistent starters on the interior of the defensive line during last season and look to continue to anchor the frontline. On the edge, Oyewale is looking to build off a strong junior season where he recorded 31 tackles. After leading the Big 12 in interceptions last season, Johnson is set to lead the secondary once again in the 2026 season.
TCU takes the stage at The Star on Wednesday, July 8. The event will be broadcasted live on ESPNU from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. CT.
