Frogs claim every event in the win
BROOKINGS, S.D. – For the fifth time this season, the seventh-ranked TCU equestrian team earned a top-10 win, this time defeating 10th-ranked South Dakota State at DeHaan Equestrian Center on Friday.
The Horned Frogs (5-3) claimed every event in their first road matchup of the spring slate.
Only South Dakota State's outdoor arena was available during Friday's meet, causing the competition to last more than seven hours.
TCU opened strong in Fences and Horsemanship to open up a 6-4 lead over the Jackrabbits (3-5) after two events. The Frogs gained additional distance in Reining, taking four of five points to move within one point of clinching the meet, which they secured on the Flat.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In Fences, TCU's Lex Lipacis, Lily Muzzy and Lilly Goldstein earned points for the Horned Frogs, with all three scoring above an 84 in the event. Their marks were the three highest scores across both teams. Lipacis picked up the MOP accolades
Success continued in Horsemanship, where Piper Keller, Sydney Feager and Tatum Keller earned wins to give TCU a 6-4 lead at the halfway mark. The win gave Feager the MOP for the event.
In Reining the squad in purple and white created separation, earning four points behind strong performances from Calla Thomas, Kaylene Cunningham, Cassie Hacking and Sydney Sargent.
Entering the final event, the Horned Frogs needed just one point to secure the victory, but they had their eyes on more than just one. Victoria Zahorik, Madi Lo Porto, Hanna Dolan and Lilly Goldstein captured wins to push TCU well past the clinching mark. Dolan earned her first career MOP accolade.
