Cicanci Notches TCU Record, Frogs Conclude Day Three of Big 12 Championships

Horned Frogs over halfway through Big 12 Championships
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The TCU swimming and diving team would have to wait until the final event of the night to see its biggest success of the day, as Edgar Cicanci broke a school record and the 400 medley relay squad took bronze on the third day of the Big 12 Championships at Greensboro Aquatic Center.
The men's 400 medley relay, consisting of Edgar Cicanci, Nikola Koltin, Lior Mizrahi and Peter Horton, clocked a 3:07.97 to take bronze and secure TCU's only medal of the night. The time was good enough to secure the third-quickest mark in program history. In the process, Cicanci threw down a 46.48 in his 100 back opening split, an effort that broke a TCU record.
TCU had five individual A finalists and eight top-10 times set on the third day of competition.
Currently the Frogs sit in fourth on the men's side with 474 points and seventh on the women's side with a total score of 415.
FINALS RUNDOWN
The women's 400 medley relay also found success just like the men's side did. The quartet of Paige Taber, Nina Vadovicova Aubrey Finn and Molly Cullen touched the wall in 3:38.07 to grab the third-fastest time in school history.
In the 100 fly finals, the TCU women saw a trio of top-10 times posted. In the bonus final, Morgan Gore swam a 54.38 to come in eighth on the all-time list and Stella Todd touched the wall in 54.18 to earn the fifth-fastest mark. In the consolation final, Aubrey Finn threw down a 54.01 to place fourth in the TCU record books.
David Ekdahl and Elliott Dillon would compete on the final of 1-meter, with Ekdahl coming in fifth with a score of 366.45 and Dillon totaling 340.85 points.
Avery Dillon would come in sixth in the 200 free A final, touching the wall in 1:47.27.
Lior Mizrahi would take his talents to the 100 fly final where he posted a time of 46.83. Viktor Hristov competed in the consolation final of the event, dropping a 47.17.
Bryn James won the consolation final of 1-meter diving, scoring a total of 337.45.
Viktor Hristov competed in the men's consolation of the 100 fly, touching the wall in 47.17. Taylor Steelman would do the same in the 400 IM, where she came in 11th overall with an effort of 4:20.89.
PRELIMS RUNDOWN
TCU earned a pair of top-10 times and booked a total of 10 trips to an A or B final during the morning session of day three.
The prelims session got started as Aubrey Finn booked her trip to the 100 fly consolation final with a time of 54.54. On the men's side, TCU would land a pair inside the top 16, as Hristov (47.16) posted the 16th-fastest mark and Mizrahi (46.45) set the second-fastest time in school history with a 46.45 and booked his trip to the A final.
Suchanski would secure the fifth-quickest mark in the 400 IM prelims (3:49.37) to book his spot in the nightly final. Taylor Steelman narrowly missed making an A final on the women's side, touching the wall in 4:20.93.
Freshman Dillon would continue her impressive debut at the Big 12 Championships, slotting herself at fifth coming into the nightly final (1:47.35).
