
Cullen Breaks TCU Record, Frogs Win Two Medals on Day Two of Big 12 Championships

Horned Frogs keeping things going in Greensboro
GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the second day in a row a TCU record fell as the Frogs competed in day two of the Big 12 Swimming Championships at Greensboro Aquatic Center.
After today's events, TCU currently sits in fourth place on the men's side with 283 points and fifth place on the women's side with a team score of 283.
The Frogs now have a total of five medals so far throughout the Big 12 Championships, with three coming on day one and two tonight. A total of 12 top-10 times have been set so far by TCU representatives.
TCU would earn a third-place result in the final event of the day, as David Ekdahl would score a 374.70 on 3-meter, earning his second straight podium finish at the Big 12 Championships.
Avery Dillon, a standout freshman who has already been a part of numerous TCU school records this season, went on to earn a third-place finish in the 500 free for the first medal of her collegiate career.
In the 50 free prelims, freshman Molly Cullen set a new TCU record in the 50 free, becoming the fastest women's sprint freestyler in TCU swimming history. Her time of 22.47 was good enough to secure the fourth-quickest mark heading into finals. The record had been previously standing since 2012 and formerly held by Sabine Rasch.
FINALS RUNDOWN
Ekdahl closed out the night on 3-meter with a 374.70, securing his spot on the podium once again. Ollie Cazaly (357,30) and Elliott Dillon (336.60) placed fifth and sixth in the event as well.
Dillon continued her standout freshman campaign with a bronze medal in the 500 free, coming to a finish in 4:45.63.
In the 50 free finals, Molly Cullen would post a time of 22.58 to come in sixth in the A final. On the men's side, Peter threw down a 19.48 to win the consolation final of the event.
Odessa Kick competed on 1-meter and scored a 280.30, placing 6th. On men's 3-meter, Oliver Cazaly (357.30) and Elliott Dillon (336.60) would place fifth and sixth in the event.
Paige Taber would set a new personal best for the second time in the day during finals, pacing to a 2:01.46 in the 200 IM to grab the sixth-fastest time in school history for the event.
PRELIMS RUNDOWN
TCU had six A-final clinches during prelims, with two efforts coming from swimming and four from diving.
Cullen's performance in the 50 free was the highlight of the morning session, but TCU still brought in plenty of top-10 marks during prelims. The first came from Luka Cavic, who posted the sixth-fastest time in TCU history in the 500 free, touching the wall in 4:24.58.
Taber would join in on the fun next, clocking a 2:01.74 in the 200 IM to come in seventh on the Frog record books.
A pair of TCU representatives would also find their way into the top-10 for the 50 free. Josephine Brant would swim a 22.85 to come in tied for fifth in school history, and Hannah Wachendorfer would post her second straight day with a top-10 time, throwing down a 23.12 to place 10th all-time.
Avery Dillon's effort of 4:46.91 in the 500 free would land her fourth out of all contenders heading into the night session.
