TCU has finished ranked twice in four seasons under Sonny Dykes.
FORT WORTH – For the first time since finishing No. 2 in the 2022 poll and for the third time since 2017, TCU has finished the season ranked in the top 25, the Associated Press announced on Tuesday.
It's the second time in four years under head coach Sonny Dykes that TCU has finished ranked as the Frogs came in at No. 25 after posting consecutive nine-win seasons for the first time in over a decade. Dykes' 36 wins in his first four seasons at the helm are the most by a TCU head coach in his first four seasons in nearly a century (Francis Schmidt, 37, 1929-32).
The Horned Frogs (9-4) closed the season with fireworks, defeating then-No. 16 USC in the 2025 Valero Alamo Bowl on the play of offensive MVP Ken Seals and defensive MVP Kaleb Elarms-Orr. It was part of a three-game stretch that saw TCU go on the road to defeat then-No. 23 Houston and wallop Cincinnati, who was ranked as high as No. 17, to close out the regular season schedule.
In the final poll, Houston (22) and USC (20) both finished ranked.
TCU's top-25 resume also included eight victories over Power 4 opponents. The Frogs were one of only 15 schools in the country to boast as many or more wins over P4 competition in 2025 and 14 of those 15 schools (Duke) ended the season ranked in the final poll.
The page now turns to 2026, and Dykes' team is undergoing a remake of sorts with new leadership in the weight room, led by Darl Bauer, and on the offense, now coordinated by Gordon Sammis.
TCU opens the 2026 season in Dublin, Ireland against North Carolina in the Aer Lingus Football Classic on Saturday, Aug. 29. Single-game tickets to join the Frogs in Dublin are now on sale.
