Lilly, Tomlinson Named to The Sporting News All-Decade All-America Teams

Two Horned Frog legends honored as some of the best of their decade
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Celebrating its 140th year of publishing, the Sporting News announced its All-Decade All-America Teams which featured selections for TCU legends Bob Lilly and LaDainian Tomlinson.
Lilly earned a nod to the 1960s All-Decade All-America Team, while Tomlinson was placed on the team for the 2000s.
A member of the All-Time SWC Dream Team, Lilly helped lead the Horned Frogs to two SWC titles along with appearances in the Cotton Bowl and Bluebonnet Bowl and was inducted into the TCU Athletics Hall of Fame in 1976.
He was a consensus All-America choice in 1960, and in the spring of 1961, he became the Dallas Cowboys' first-ever draft choice. In addition, Lilly was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1981.
One of the greatest running backs in the history of college and professional football, LaDainian Tomlinson was officially inducted into the TCU Lettermen's Association Hall of Fame in 2012.
Tomlinson helped kick off TCU's resurgence in football during the turn of the millennium when he recorded an All-America career highlighted by a pair of national rushing titles during his final two seasons in 1999 and 2000. His 2,158 yards as a senior marked the fourth-highest single-season total in NCAA history at the time, while his 5,263 career rushing yards ranked sixth.
In 2000, Tomlinson was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, finishing fourth, and won the Doak Walker Award as nation's top running back.
