
Rifle Cruises Past Ohio State and Schreiner University

FORT WORTH – Competing for the first time in the New Year, No. 4 TCU Rifle earned a pair of dominant victories over No. 12 Ohio State and Schreiner University with a team score of 4,732 on Sunday afternoon.
The Horned Frogs turned in eight of the top 10 individual scores in the match, including the top seven. Senior Katie Zaun led the way with a near perfect day on the range. She fired an 1,194 aggregate score, only missing six shots in the match. In smallbore, her mark of 596 tied her career best from earlier this season. Zaun followed it up with a 598 in air rifle.
As a team, the Frogs posted a 2,354 in smallbore. Sophomore Rylie Passmore joined Zaun in the 590s, shooting a career-high 592. Mikole Hogan contributed a strong 584 as a counter, and Marissa Fedora rounded out the scoring for TCU. Christina Hillinger and Ziva Swick also had career days in smallbore, turning in personal best marks of 589 and 583, respectively.
In air rifle, TCU ended with a 2,378-team score. Ten different Frogs fired scores of 590 or better in the match, led by Zaun. Fedora followed just one-point back with a 597 that featured an impressive 54 center shots, and Kenzie Kring added a 595; however, neither served as a designated counter. Hogan finished with a 594, and Christina Hillinger and Alexandra Rosenlew each shot 593s to contribute to the team score.
The Frogs are back in action against Ohio State on Monday, Jan. 19. The first smallbore relay is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. CT.
