Senior looks to lead the Frogs in 2025
IRVING, Texas – Ahead of the start of the 2025 season, TCU volleyball's Jalyn Gibson was named to the Preseason All-Big 12 team as voted on by the league's head coaches.
For the second straight year, Gibson finds herself on the conference's preseason award list as one of 18 student-athletes to be recognized. A two-time All-Big 12 performer in her career, the senior is closing in on 900 kills in her time as a Horned Frog.
Last season, Gibson was key in helping the TCU earn its first-ever national ranking in the AVCA coaches' poll, its first 20-win season since 2011 and a third straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. She concluded 2024 with First Team All-Big 12 honors after posting a career-best 380 kills on a .258 clip.
The San Antonio native recorded double-digit kills in 22 contests, including a career-high 26 against Iowa State (Nov. 1). She racked up 451.0 points for the Frogs, ranking seventh in the league. A versatile six-rotation outside, Gibson also led the team with 330 digs and finished the regular season with 12 double-doubles.
Back for her senior season and serving in a captain role, Gibson has high hopes as TCU looks to earn a fourth consecutive bid to the Big Dance and compete for a Big 12 title.
As a team, head coach Jason Williams' Horned Frogs were picked fifth (141) in the preseason poll, receiving one first-place vote. Only BYU (180), Kansas (170), Arizona State (168) and Utah (159) were picked ahead of TCU.
